Infinity pools built for the horizon

The defining pool at Amalfi Azure Retreat is an elevated saltwater infinity pool designed to visually merge with the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is 18 metres long, approximately 1.35 metres deep throughout most of its swimming lane, and bordered by a shallow sun shelf with submerged loungers. The arrangement favours floating and gentle laps rather than energetic family play.
What the experience is like
Pool access is included for registered guests from 07:30 to 20:00. A quieter adults-oriented window runs from 08:00 to 10:00, when breakfast trays are available at the nearby pool bar. The western edge catches afternoon sun, while olive trees shade the northern seating after lunch. There are 22 loungers, six cabanas and towels replenished throughout the day; reserving a lounger is discouraged so the terrace remains usable for everyone.
The water is filtered and lightly salted rather than heavily chlorinated. Guests with sensitive skin may prefer the shower rinse before swimming. The pool is not heated year-round: it usually reaches a comfortable temperature from late May through early October, while April and November can feel brisk. A small heated indoor vitality pool is available in the spa for cooler dates.
Comparing times and trade-offs
| Time | Best for | Consideration |
|---|---|---|
| 07:30–10:00 | Quiet water and photographs | Cooler surface, limited bar menu |
| 10:00–15:00 | Long swims and full service | Strongest sun; shade sells quickly |
| 15:00–20:00 | Golden light and aperitivo | Most social period |
Who should choose it?
Couples, solo travellers and guests who value a composed pool deck will find the strongest fit. Families are welcome, but the depth and quiet design mean it is better for confident swimmers than toddlers. The accessible route includes a gradual ramp at the north side and a pool lift on request; contact the hotel before arrival so equipment can be prepared.
Poolside service is priced à la carte. Expect €8–€14 for juices and coffee, €16–€24 for salads or panini, and €15–€20 for a spritz or local wine. A cabana includes chilled water, fruit and a €75 food-and-beverage credit, subject to availability. In short, the pool is a strong reason to stay on property for one full day, but its open exposure makes a sea-facing room terrace more useful for private downtime.
